Top Family-Friendly Things to Do in the Inland Empire

Pack up the whole family and head out for an adventure—there are things to do in the Inland Empire, both indoors and out. Some of the best include museums and amusement parks. Here are few family friendly things to do in the Inland Empire:

The San Bernardino County Museum
Founded in 1952, the San Bernardino County Museum features exhibits and collections in cultural and natural history. There are a variety of special exhibits for adults, families, students and children of all ages. With a wide variety of exhibits, an exploration station with live animal discovery center, extensive research collections, and public programs, the museum is a socially embedded part of the Southern California community. The Museum collection includes land and water birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and fossils. The San Bernardino County Museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. .

Pennypickle’s Workshop
Located in the heart of Old Town Temecula, Pennypickle’s Workshop in the Temecula Children’s Museum offers 7,500 square feet of exploration, experimentation and invention through hands-on activities. The Temecula Children’s Museum is modeled after Professor Pennypickle’s home—packed with hundreds of gadgets and gizmos for tiny hands to tinker with. The Museum offers special events throughout the year, including kids-only club programs, adventure workshops and Pennypickle’s birthday bash. Every room at Pennypickle’s Workshop has an exciting story filled with mystery and intrigue to tell, starting with the library. The library is where the time machine is housed along with a fireplace that holds a secret passage into the black light maze room. In the bedroom, a colorful invention called the illusionator creates kaleidoscope images from under a picket fence. Pennypickle’s Workshop is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, 12:30 – 5 p.m.

Castle Park
Castle Park features 24 acres of amusement park fun, with four 18-hole golf courses, thrilling rides, a full arcade, magic show, Friday night concerts and in-park entertainment. Offering more than 25 rides, Castle Park is great fun for guests of all ages. Test your courage on the Spider—spinning and twirling each car up and down in a spiderweb-like action. Or, take a ride on the Sea Dragon—an enchanted ship that swings to and from on a pendulum of excitement. The Whip is a centrifugal ride just for little kids; it’s a miniature version of the adult size ride. Other rides include bumper cars, crazy planes, flying animals and saucers, ghost blasters, merry-go-round and scrambler. Don’t forget to check out the arcade, miniature golf course and magic shows and grab a bite to eat in the Plaza Café. Castle Park is open Monday-Friday, 1 – 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, noon – 7 p.m.
